Louisiana Governor issues orders regarding opening of businesses on May 18th
May 18th, 2020

The Governor has started Phase One in Louisiana , which means more businesses can be open, with some restrictions in place to protect the public and their employees. Additional businesses will be able to re-open in Phase Two.
Business owners should review the updated Phase One order , as this is the best way to determine if a they can open and to refer to guidance from the State Fire Marshal and the Louisiana Department of Health shared on OpenSafely.la.gov . No business is required to register at this site to reopen.
Below is an overview of which businesses can be open.
Please note: employees that deal with the public MUST wear face masks when a business is open, all businesses must practice social distancing.

Essential Business (as defined by the federal government)
Yes
Non-essential retail (sometimes called “gray area” businesses)
Yes, all employees dealing with the public must wear face masks, occupancy is limited to 25%.
Restaurants, cafes, coffee shops
Yes, at 25% occupancy and for takeout and curbside pick up; may continue to conduct outdoor service not limited by 25 percent of indoor capacity so long as strict social distancing is practiced."
Churches and places of worship
Yes, at 25% occupancy, may continue to conduct outdoor service not limited by 25 percent of indoor capacity so long as strict social distancing is practiced.
Casinos and video poker establishments
Yes, as of Monday, May 18, with an approved plan from the Gaming Control Board; at 25% occupancy and with 50% of gaming positions.
Shopping malls
Yes, with an approved plan from State Fire Marshal, with food courts and playgrounds closed, at 25% occupancy.
Gyms and fitness centers
Yes, at 25% occupancy, with enhanced sanitation.
Bars and breweries with LDH food permits
Yes, at 25% occupancy
Bars and breweries without LDH food permits

Museums, zoos, aquariums
Yes, at 25% occupancy, with no “tactile” exhibits
Beauty salons, barber shops, nail salons
Yes, at 25% occupancy and with appropriate protection measures.
Movie theaters
Yes, at 25% occupancy
Racetracks
Yes, with an approved plan by the Louisiana Racing Commission, but not to spectators
Places of amusement, like carnivals, amusement parks, water parks, trampoline parks, arcades, fairs, pool halls, bowling alleys, contact sports, children’s play centers, playgrounds, theme parks, adult entertainment venues, and other similar businesses
