Medicare & You 2022 Handbook is now available

Most Medicare beneficiaries will receive their personal copy of the Medicare & You 2022 Handbook beginning in late September to their home address. Each handbook is specific for the state in which the Medicare beneficiary resides. If you wish to receive a copy, please call 1-800-772-1213 or email to medicareandyour@cms.hhs.gov

Some of the key changes to the Medicare program include: information about COVID-19; Lower out of pocket costs for insulin, ESRD patients can now join Medicare advantage plans; Coverage for up to 12 acupuncture visits in 90 days for chronic low back pain; and changes in telehealth and other virtual services.

To get help with your Medicare coverage choices, you can visit the website at www.medicare.gov/plan-compare . You can also call your state’s Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP). In Louisiana, the SHIIP number is 1-800-259-5300.

Remember that changes to your Medicare health or drug coverage for 2022 can be made between October 15 to December 7, 2021. Coverage will begin on January 1, 2022.
